We are truly blessed to have such a loving and encouraging community around us! We had such a great time visiting with you and hope you left inspired to share about the work New Beginnings does! May our love for the women and children we serve come from an overflow of His great love! Thank you Champions, your friendship is highly valued!

A BIG THANK YOU, to our good friend Shawn Manley of Health Insurance Connection for sponsoring this event! Your generosity made it possible and we are so very grateful!

From Fear to Father... In 9 Months

It's a dream to witness more men stepping up to become loving fathers. The New Beginnings house dad has high hopes to mentor them... The truth is many of these guys don't have an example in their life worthy of following! How do they learn what it looks like to be a dad, be a husband, be a man... when no one is showing them? More than ever young men today need to have solid, Godly men reach out to them with encouragement, accountability and discipleship!

This short story is based on true events - names have been changed for privacy:

Josh was still in High School, how could he possibly be a dad? The relationship went too far and Josh knew it was a mistake, one he'd rather forget about than deal with. This is not what he planned for his future. It was clear to him, there was only one answer that made sense - abortion. It would be a quick, harmless solution... right? Yes, Josh believes in God and knows that it's wrong, but he was facing this life changing situation all alone and terrified!

The girl pregnant with his child is a Christian too... Molly hates the idea of abortion and can't allow herself to think about that as an option. Her mothering instincts kicked in early in the pregnancy, she is protective. Josh became frustrated insisting on abortion. Soon the time frame for a free abortion passed by. Molly is relieved and now living at New Beginnings surrounded by loving people that are giving her encouragement, education, and reminding her of the promises Jesus has for her and her child.

Josh, having no support from his family and getting nothing but negative remarks from his own father, decided to switch his focus from abortion to adoption. Adoption can be a beautiful option, incredibly selfless and also incredibly difficult... there is a great loss involved and I believe only true dependence on our loving God can carry any parent through the adoption process in a healthy way! Can Josh handle that? Can Molly? Molly is willing to explore the idea... she learned all about adoption from a non-biased loving counselor and after much contemplation and prayer decided not to proceed with adoption. Now Molly has to tell Josh - adoption is off the table... he either needs to step up to parenting or leave their lives.

Josh is a good guy struggling with fear and doubt... but knowing he must take responsibility. He came to as many doctor appointments as possible, agreed to sit down with the NBHomes house dad to talk about the future and the Lord, and soon found out his growing baby is a girl. The last months of Molly's pregnancy were not easy for her and Josh. Their relationship as a couple ended but they made a promise to be the best parents they could be for their daughter. On the day of their daughters birth Josh was by Molly's side every minute... holding Molly's hand in encouragement!

Fear has a way of lurking in our hearts and controlling every aspect of our lives... it can hold us back from God's plans. Fear causes us to make unwise choices and statements. Overwhelming fear can stop a father from the greatest gift of his life: A daughter. Jesus says we can give him our burdens, that we can trust the Lord, that he will supply everything we need for LIFE!

When Josh laid eyes on his beautiful, healthy daughter for the first time as she entered the world... something incredible must have happened! Imagine Josh reliving all the times he begged for an abortion... all the times he denied wanting to parent... all the fears and doubts and worries... VANISHING! Because in one instant he fell madly in love with a tiny perfect baby girl. His daughter. Now he looks into her eyes thankful to God and Molly for not listening to him. He becomes a daddy and every ounce of him wants to protect his baby forever. Tears of true joy and gratitude flow!

This is happy ending! A little girl has a loving mommy and daddy in her life. Thank You Jesus!

Your investment could change everything!

A Relational Community

I (Stephani) have only been on staff with New Beginnings for 1 year. In that time I've witnessed many lives transformed by the love of Jesus - in the form of grace filled discipleship and prayer in a loving family atmosphere! I feel tremendously blessed to live and serve in this close knit community! Everything stems from the overflow of relationships! Firstly our relationship with the Lord and then with each other; it's recipe for beautiful things to take place!

Tiny House #2

Back in May, someone attended our banquet and heard Miles announce the successful completion of building a tiny house on our campus, which will provide additional housing for a single mom and baby.  (A tiny home is a home that is less than 400 square feet in size).

That same evening, Miles also gave an invitation to join New Beginnings in building additional tiny homes. For $30,000 a home can be built, furnished, and provide a safe and sufficient independent living space for a mom and her child.

New Beginnings Homes have been providing housing for single moms for the past 4 years in the program titled, "Welcome Home." It is part of the aftercare program that includes House of Hope, for moms who have chosen to place a child in adoption.

Up until now, residents of Welcome Home have been living in a recently converted home on the property. The home hadn't been used for ministry purposes (other than to house staff) until 2011. An opportunity for the New Beginnings Ministry was developing and it was perfect timing to utilize this house for single moms and babies. With the house size, and having only 1 bathroom, it was decided that it would not be conducive to house more than one mom at a time. This house is also home to Amelia, the Welcome Home house manager and her son.

There is a great need in the community for housing for single moms and children. There is limited support and resources available. Most, if not all housing available for them has a waitlist. It has been a long time desire of New Beginnings to provide housing for more than just one mom at a time.

The first tiny house became possible with a generous donation from one supporter. They saw the need and had the financial means to meet it. Tiny House #1 was completed in May and will provide housing for new mom, BriAnna and her son, Roman for the next 12-18 months.

Tiny House #1

This brings us back to the night of the banquet. A man in attendance that evening heard the desire to build another tiny house and brought the news back to the company he works for, RW Anderson, a home building company based in Seattle. Giving back to the community is something this company highly values. Quoted from their website R.W. Anderson:
"The company annually travels with a non-profit organization, either domestically or abroad, and completes a week-long work trip to provide skills, time and finances for people and places in need...Giving back allows the company to learn more lessons than the normal workday often provides. The RW Anderson team grows together and as individuals by gaining insight to a different part of the world and its needs. They leave with an experience that not only positively changed the lives of the people they helped, but also resulted in potentially changing their own."
After a meeting between New Beginnings Homes director, Miles Musick and general manager of R.W. Anderson, Sean Hughes; they agreed to help build Tiny House #2! We are so excited to be partnering with R.W. Anderson. The provision for this home is a tremendous blessing.

In other exciting news, Miles was prepared to purchase the plans for the home, but noticed on the website the price of the plans had increased by $500! After a phone call to customer service at Leap Adaptive, the company that owns the plans, he was asked to leave a message and the designer of the plans would contact him directly. The phone call came from the architect and Miles shared with him a little about New Beginnings Homes and what the plans were to be used for. His response surprised us all! Not only did the man agree with Miles and the work that is being done at New Beginnings, but he felt he could personally relate to the clients we serve. In response to the increase in the price of the plans-- he donated them to New Beginnings, at no charge! God is good!

The Hummingbird by Leap Adapative (Tiny House #2)

The building for "The Hummingbird" will start in October and, if all goes as planned, should be available to provide housing to another mom and baby by Christmas of 2015.

If you are interested in being part of building more tiny homes for single moms, please contact us, we would love to hear from you.
