Dianna the Great!

For nearly 2 years Dianna Mendoza has blessed the residents, staff, and community around New Beginnings Homes with her infectious joy and hard work as a dedicated staff assistant! Dianna's role, to come alongside the house parents of the New Beginnings maternity home caring for our pregnant residents as well as the work involved in running a large home, is not for the faint of heart. She's not only excelled in every expectation but also went above and beyond consistently! For about 6 months she took on the leadership of "House Mom" while our new staff parents were away doing their YWAM training. Dianna has poured out her love and wisdom with countless young women experiencing unplanned pregnancy! Her example of a Godly woman has left a lasting impact on every person who knows her! Dianna's passion for people to realize their identity in Christ and hope for a brilliant future will continue to bless the Lord in her next journey! With all our love we bless Dianna as she moves on from NBHomes and follows the Leader of her life into the next exciting chapter!

Here is what Dianna has to say about her time with NBHomes: "Working with NBHomes has been a most special time in my life! I've learned about the amazing grace of God, both for myself and for the women we serve. I've had so much fun, and I've shared a lot of tears. I will be thankful to the Lord for the rest of my life for the time I got to spend serving New Beginnings!"
Dianna is excited for her future! And so she should be... there is a certain young man who has become a very important part of her story! Yes, Robby has swept up our Dianna with charm, a fabulous sense of humor, and most importantly a deep rooted love for his Savior! What an honor as her family to see their love for each other grow! We expect great things for this couple! Robby recently landed the job of his dreams as a youth pastor at Charter Oak Community Church in Battle Ground, WA!! Just weeks later Dianna was offered a position with Catholic Community Services as an International Foster Care Case Manager set to begin in September! Once her training is completed in Tacoma, she will work out of Vancouver, WA (near Robby)! Dianna's heart for the nations as well as her deep desire for every individual to know their value ensures this new job was MADE for her!

Dianna the Great, you have earned the title in our opinion! Thank you above everything for simply loving us & being you! We will miss you greatly, but we send you on with tremendous JOY!

A Letter From Dad...

Recently the NBHomes house dad, Tim Steele, had an opportunity to present a farewell gift on behalf of our entire community to a young woman passionately pursuing God's plan for her life! The letter Tim wrote to accompany the gift of a purity ring, was so powerful and true for every 'single' woman seeking her King!

Are you single? Do you know all about waiting? Please be encouraged by this letter:

God’s Daughter,

I don't really know exactly what to say about purity to someone I don't know that well. I am however a father with a father’s heart. So I will write this letter as if I was writing it to my own daughter today. I think I would say something like this.... Purity is a road that isn't easily walked down. As I talk about purity I will be careful not to talk about it as a battle. A battle implies that we must fight. We are quick to use words like fight and battle. Jesus is quick to use words like peace and rest. If there is any encouragement that I can give you it is to not war against your own flesh but to rest in a God who is more than able to win any battle. Jesus calls us to come and abide, he invites us into his rest.

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit to itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” John 15:4

Abide in his presence, rest in his love, our God is a loving savior who is capable of meeting all of your needs, who fulfill all of your ideas.

Waiting for your husband is a great sentiment that people talk about often and it’s a valid point. However waiting for a future husband is a vague idea... Please don't only wait for a man. I believe that God says 'wait' because he honestly believes that he is good enough and he is enough for you. That if you rest in him and stay close to him he will walk with you. Trust that God will keep you, that as you walk with him he will keep you pure.

Don't hold back from your relationship with him... he wants to lead you, so follow and follow hard! Our God is a good father who loves you the same way he loved his own son Jesus.

“...the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.” John 16:27

You are his treasured possession and he is a hopeless romantic. He would leave all of his sheep to find you. He would tear his house apart to find you because you are so valuable. And even if you turned your back on him as soon as he saw you on your way back, he would run to you and embrace you, he would kiss you, and adorn you with a ring and a robe. He would throw a feast in your honor. Our God is so good and his best for you is worth pursuing. Walk this road to purity well, stay close to him and allow him to fight all of your battles for you.

God’s chosen daughter, we are here for you always, a spiritual family knit together by God himself. Know that as spiritual family we are here & ready to hear from you when you need advice. Ready to receive you when you need a place to stay or simply want to visit.

Blessings to you dear daughter,
A caring Father

Puyallup Really Does CARE!

NBHomes participated in the second annual Puyallup Cares event hosted by The One Another Foundation! What a privilege to share alongside over 20 local non-profits, many of whom are our long time friends! We were so encouraged by the great turnout and connections made with so many in our community. This event was not just a tool to connect volunteers with upcoming projects, but also a great way to share about what we do and how EVERYONE can be involved by simply sharing about NBHomes. You never know who will cross your path that may someday need the extra help that New Beginnings Homes can provide!

Thank you to The One Another Foundation for setting the trend into motion that we must all have the mindset of fostering a caring community!

It's not too late to sign up for a volunteer opportunity. Please CONTACT US for details.

Very Tiny Construction

Adorable right!? These lovely little play houses came from our friends at World Vision! The kiddos on NBHomes campus are thrilled to play in them.

The construction of these gifts by an awesome father and son team (Carl & Tim Steele) has us all pumped for ground to break in just a couple months on our next Tiny House! Tiny living is becoming more widely known and admired! We are looking forward to partnering with R.W. Anderson who is building the next tiny house to serve a single mom and baby in need! 2015 Staff Retreat

Great leaders know that sometimes you just need to get away and enjoy each other! We are grateful for our founders and directors for creating space in our busy schedules to make a retreat happen! Last week we spent a day in the sun, BBQing lunch, playing games, kayaking, swimming, and napping in nature. What a huge blessing to relax together. We are much more than co-workers... we serve the Lord side by side and genuinely adore our friendship as well.

(A BIG THANK YOU to World Vision, for the generous gift of kayaks! We love them!)

Day 2 of our staff retreat included the wisdom and passion of our dear friend Debe Loeber, a certified Strengths Finder consultant. We learned about each others God given strengths, how we can nurture them in our teamwork and personally to achieve not just skill and knowledge but truly live out our identity! It's amazing to see the unique abilities in our team and find ways to encourage the growth and fulfillment each of us need!

(Thank You so much Puyallup Nazarene Church for use of your lovely meeting rooms!)

Thank You Nanny Serena

Serena, thank you for loving our kiddos so well this Summer! You have become family to us all and we will always keep you in our prayers! Blessings on your adventure as you continue to serve through Missionary Nanny.

May We Never Lose Our Wonder!

"May we never lose our wonder
Wide eyed and mystified
May we be just like a child
Staring at the beauty of our King"
- song by Bethel Music, called Wonder

I was reminded of the glorious views we enjoy every (clear) day! A guest speaker was recently sharing a story at my church: He is from the south and in a college geography class he chose to study Mount Rainier. During that time he came to love it's beauty and learned every detail you could possibly know about it. After college he finally planned a road trip to visit the mountain for the first time. He shared that at a certain point coming down I5 the distance beheld the mountain in all its majesty... he could hardly contain his heart as it beat against the walls of his chest. Eventually making it all the way to Paradise Point state park at the base of Mt. Rainier, he emerged from his vehicle and proceeded to weep! You see it wasn't until that very moment that he realized the undeniable truth: he knew all about this mountain, but only when he gazed upon the beauty first hand did he actually know the mountain.

It's the same with our Mighty God... we can think we know all about him... the facts, the bible, the law, the words of others, BUT not until you personally experience the living God of the universe will you really KNOW HIM!

A big thank you to Louie Giglio for sharing his story with us! He ended stating that we better not take for granted the amazing reminder of God's greatness! So friends, lets not lose our wonder!

Now Accepting Applications!

Do you know someone currently facing difficult circumstances surrounding their pregnancy? Women often come to NBHomes during their pregnancy to receive positive encouragement and resources to best prepare for the future. We offer one on one mentors, nutritious meals, access to a variety of local goods and services for pregnant women, but most importantly we can provide a stable and loving family style environment. Being able to navigate a tough situation with support and peace of mind will make all the difference!

In addition to our maternity home, NBHomes also offers a program for birth mothers (who have placed a child with a forever family through adoption). Adoption is a beautiful and sacrificial gift of life, but for most birth moms the time following their child's adoption is filled with questions, grief, and fear of the future. House of Hope exists to offer true hope for a future filled with purpose, joy, and success! If you or someone you know is in need of extra support please contact us for more information about our 12-18mo program for birth mothers.

Our programs are privately funded to cover a majority of the costs involved with serving women and children. Our residents are only responsible for a small monthly rent. If an applicant is ready for a fresh start //a New Beginning// we welcome your application so we can schedule an interview. Please visit NBHomes.org to apply online. (Below are our homes)
